The New Line films suffer from this problem as well, though they handle it better to varying degrees. It doesn’t feel like a Friday the 13th movie. Number 1, and this one is most important: tone, look, vibe. Jason somehow tracks down Alice in Part 2 and goes to her house, which makes an equal amount of sense, so I won’t critique the remake on dumb stuff like that. I want to preface that I don’t care about the tunnels or the bus in the woods. Here’s why I do not like the Friday the 13th remake, and I’ll say that this took a long time to settle in as I started as an “it’s alright” apologist for it. The Night of the Living Dead remake is great. The Dawn of the Dead remake pales in comparison to the original, but is still a very fun movie. I think the Hills Have Eyes remake is great. Has nothing to do with it being a remake.
